  1. How interesting! I'm glad you identified the newspaper obituary as being ELLEN Krans's, as her own obituary identifies her only as Mrs. Charles Krans! How sad for all the married women kin in the article who are identified by their husbands' first and last names. At least Grandma was identified as "TECKLA Lundwall."

    1. I hadn’t noticed that even when I posted it, perhaps because when I read it, I knew who everybody was – and neglected to think about it except to make sure I identified it as Ellen’s obituary. Her daughters were Mrs. Reuben Olson (Rose); Mrs. Thomas Beaudry (Beda); the two remaining sisters were Mrs. Axel Osterberg (Ida), and Mrs. Claus Johnson (Julia). Perhaps Grandma had been gone from the Homestead area that whoever wrote the article couldn’t remember Grandpa’s first name. Because we lived in Kingsford for several years I knew all of these wonderful women. We've come so far in the last 75+ years, haven't we?
